Cal State LA is committed to transforming lives through inclusion, education and opportunity. Cal State LA is a place where innovation and creativity thrive while intellect expands. A premier public university in vibrant and diverse Los Angeles, Cal State LA will continue to propel its students to greater prosperity.
The goal of the campaign is to raise $75 million.
— The Work
We created a brand that stays true to the University Brand Standards we built years prior, tells the story of the students/alumni/faculty and makes the act of giving an easy action.
The identity was built as a conversation starter and entrance to the fund. We approached the project from the alumni and outside investor point of view and the findings were clear - they all want to feel the connection to the University through giving.
The structured nature of the mark allows the University to shine, where the heart is (LA) and who they are. We also established the hashtag #weareLA in parallel with the campaign and it the results were amazing. The campaign, since its 2018 launch, has raised $61 Million from 13K+ donors.

The President’s message
The Campaign for Cal State LA is a defining moment in the history of the university. The success of our alumni is a clear indication of the quality of our colleges and academic programs. This campaign will support academic distinction that is paramount to the university. The pillars of our strategic plan will be supported by the campaign, and through our welcoming and inclusive campus we will continue to deliver and support student success.
The Campaign for Cal State LA will also support athletics, the arts, and the co-curricular activities that make this university number one in the United States for the upward mobility of its students.
